This week's vlog was inspired by a friend who had a not so great experience the last time that she went to Give Back. I have heard so many similar stories and have my own to tell as well. I decided to share what I think is an easy way to ensure that your volunteers have a wonderful time and guarantee that they will in fact return. I guarantee that if a non profit is having trouble keeping their volunteers, I can help them. This vlog is the first step in my upcoming workshops
Whew! I am still recovering from the awesomeness that was Giving Tuesday! It was so wonderful to once again see so many deserving organizations receive support. It was so inspiring to see the world come together in a day all about Giving Back.
It leads perfectly into my vlog for this week. In it, I talk all about the new movement that I am creating along with you...a movement all about gratitude. When I think of how I want to end this year and start the next anew, gratitud
This Friday would have been my brother's birthday. We lost him to leukemia when he was 13 years old. As I sat down to think about how I'd honor his life this year, I realized that it would be a good time to share a few ideas so that other people could honor their lost loved ones as well. So that's what this week's vlog is all about: How to Honor a Lost Loved One Through Service. I miss my brother each and every day. I love feeling connected to him specifically on his birthday
The new vlog is up and it's all about Self Care. You know that thing that we always seem to forget about as caregivers? Taking a moment for self to refill our cup so that we can continue to pour from it and do our part to help make the world a better place. In the vlog, I give you 5 self care ideas that I hope that you will indulge in over the next few weeks. Volunteering ramps up over the holidays, so now is the best time to recharge via self care. As always, if you do take
When I decided to create Giving Back With Gail, I knew that I wanted to create a space where I could bring together a community of people all working towards the goal of making the world a better place. Along that line, it was mentioned to me that perhaps I should add a blog to my website. I was hesitant as I'd never done one before, but I was also excited to have another way to share my love of service with the world. So for the past year, (with an unexpected hiatus here and
I had an entirely different blog written for this week before I went to a workshop last night that sparked a fire in me that I was very much in need of. I recently set the intention to connect with more people and organizations doing the work to make the world a better place. My first step a few months ago was to join the organization Be Social Change.
I RSVP’d for their Goal Setting/Life Visioning workshop and am I ever glad that I did. I feel excited about what’s next. I m
I am a huge proponent for consistent Blood Donation. It’s something that I feel strongly about and I share with people every chance that I get. I want to share a little something with you...if you are a blood donor, you are literally helping to save a life and in my eyes you are a hero, a champion, a protector and a warrior. Basically, you are a badass. We walk through this life just trying to survive from day to day but it’s the moments when we stop thinking of ourselves and
Do you currently have a volunteer in your life? Someone who sees that they can make a difference in the world. Someone who gives from their heart on a daily basis. Someone who knows that working together to fight hunger, protect the environment and the like is the only way that we can truly bring about change. If you do, hold onto to them, because these are the people who bring light into this world. Finding someone to date and share your life with is not always simple. Like
Everyday I see some injustice in the world; people without a place to call home or enough food to eat, the environment being taken for granted, etc. I know that I’m not alone in this. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by it all and to think that you don’t have the power to do anything about it. Let me introduce you to the very thing that will change your mind: Volunteering. You’re probably saying to yourself, well that can’t be all there is to it Gail. But it is. I steadfastly be
Do you ever just think about all the ways that your life has made the world a better place? If you haven’t, I recommend that you do so. It’s not a moment based in ego but instead a reminder of the power you have to change the world and the reminder that you are already doing it. I had the opportunity to go on a road trip with my mom over the holiday weekend. There’s a wonderful energy that road trips provide. They allow you to really live in the moment and connect with the pe
