Are You Making the World A Better Place or Just Talking About It?

October 10, 2017

The world is full of opinions and let’s face it, we each think that ours is the only one that counts. It’s an entirely human response to question/judge the world around you. The only problem with that is that it’s limited thinking. All you have in fact is your opinion. You get so stuck thinking about all of the ways that the world doesn’t work, that you aren’t able to really see the possibilities for change through action.

Consider for a moment what would be possible if you took some action today. What would happen if instead of complaining about the litter in your neighborhood, you picked it up on your way to work? What would happen if instead of judging the man/woman sitting with a sign asking for help, you told them about a local shelter that can help them? What would happen if instead of thinking about how there aren’t enough homes for animals, you contacted a local non profit and volunteered or fostered an animal in need?

How different would the world look if we each did one small action a day that helps to shift our energy from judger to benefactor?

I am smiling at the very thought of a world full of conscious, loving beings driven by service through action.

Not sure how to transition from thoughts to action? Here are a few questions that you can ask yourself to get you out of the opinion headspace into one of action:

What kind of world do I want to live in?

How can I do my part to create or support the world that I want to be a part of?

What actions can I take today to create the change that I want to see?

Are there organizations that already support a cause that I’m passionate about?

There’s no easy fix to change the world. Luckily for all of us, we don’t need quick fixes. All we need is a dedicated group of loving, kind, giving souls who believe that what they do makes a difference. If we each set our intention to make the world a better place and then put action behind that intention, I have no doubt that the world we live in will be greater for our having been here...and that my wonderful reader gives me hope.
